When couples start searching for a wedding photographer, most people focus on style or price. Those things matter, of course. But one of the biggest differences between photographers is something that’s harder to see on a website.

My path into photography didn’t start with just learning lighting or editing. It grew out of years of being surrounded by weddings in different ways. From gowns and florals to invitations and timelines, weddings have always been something I’ve genuinely loved being part of.
That experience shapes how I show up for my couples.
And sometimes it means helping with a lot more than photos.
Growing Up Around Wedding Dresses
Long before I photographed weddings, I was around wedding gowns.
My mom and my grandma are both seamstresses, which meant I grew up seeing the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making a bride feel beautiful on her wedding day. I saw gowns pinned, altered, adjusted, and carefully finished so everything fit just right.
Because of that, I understand how wedding dresses actually work.
On wedding days, that experience comes in handy more often than you might think. I can help bustle dresses, fix small issues, adjust straps, and make sure everything looks the way it should before photos begin.
Sometimes a button pops. Sometimes a bustle needs fixing halfway through the reception. Sometimes a veil needs adjusting.
Those little moments happen, and having someone nearby who understands dresses can make all the difference.

Working at a Bridal Boutique
In addition to photography, I also work at Hannan House Bridal Boutique.
One of my favorite parts of that job is sharing in the moment a bride says "Yes To The Dress". It’s such a meaningful moment, and it often becomes the very beginning of their wedding story.
What makes this special for my photography clients is that many brides meet me before they ever book a photographer.
Instead of meeting a stranger months later on the wedding day, we’ve already spent time together. We’ve talked about styles, wedding plans, and what they’re excited about. That relationship is already there.
Wedding planning can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re meeting vendor after vendor for the first time. Being able to shop for your dress with me and then have me photograph your wedding creates a much more relaxed experience.
It feels less like hiring another vendor and more like having someone in your corner the entire time.
Kind of like having a bestie holding your hand through the process.
Because I work in the wedding industry regularly, I also have connections with many local vendors. If couples need recommendations for florists, makeup artists, venues, or other services, I’m always happy to point them in the right direction.
Understanding Florals and Wedding Details
Florals are another part of the wedding world that I’ve had the chance to work closely with over the years.
Between my own education in FFA and helping with flowers alongside my sisters, I’ve learned a lot about how bouquets and arrangements are put together and how they should look throughout the day. In fact, I even partnered up with my sister for my brother’s wedding, which gave me an even deeper appreciation for the time, care, and creativity that goes into every arrangement!
Because of that experience, I’m comfortable stepping in when small things need attention. On wedding mornings I’ve helped remake bouquets, fix boutonnières, adjust ribbons, and reshape florals before photos. Sometimes flowers travel or sit overnight and just need a little refresh before they’re camera ready.
Those moments might seem small, but they matter. Couples spend so much time choosing the colors, textures, and style of their florals, and those details deserve to look just as beautiful in photos as they did when they were first arranged.
It’s something I genuinely enjoy helping with, and it’s another way I get to support my couples throughout the day.
Helping With Invitations and Wedding Details
Another thing I often help couples with is invitations and stationery.
Wedding invitations are usually the first glimpse guests get into the style of the day. They set the tone long before the wedding even happens.
Because I also design and work with stationery, I can help couples think through those details ahead of time and make sure they photograph well on the wedding day.
When I arrive for getting ready photos, I often style invitation flat lays with rings, perfume, florals, and other small details. These images help tell the full story of the day.
Those little pieces might seem simple, but they become some of the most cherished photos later.
My Love for Wedding Traditions
One of the things I love most about weddings is the intention behind them.
Weddings are full of traditions. Some are old and familiar. Others are unique to each couple and their families.
The first look with a parent.
A quiet prayer before the ceremony.
The way grandparents watch from the front row.
The way two people promise their lives to each other in front of the people they love most.
Those moments are why I love weddings so much.
Photography isn’t just about documenting what the day looked like. It’s about preserving what it felt like.
I pay attention to the emotional parts of the day just as much as the big moments. The laughter, the nerves, the excitement, and the quiet in-between seconds that couples often don’t even realize are happening.
Adding Even More Fun With the Photo Booth
In addition to wedding photography, I also offer a photo booth option for couples who want to add something extra fun to their reception.
Photo booths give guests a chance to relax, laugh, and create their own memories throughout the night. While the main photography focuses on documenting the story of the day, the booth captures all the silly, joyful moments happening on the dance floor and beyond.
It’s always fun seeing what guests come up with once the props come out.
Many couples also love having the printed strips as keepsakes from their wedding night.
More Than Just a Photographer
At the end of the day, couples aren’t just hiring someone to take pictures.
They’re inviting someone into one of the most meaningful days of their lives.
Because of my background with gowns, florals, invitations, and the bridal industry, I’m able to step in and help wherever I’m needed. Whether that’s bustling a dress, fixing a small detail, calming nerves, or simply making sure the couple gets a quiet moment together to take it all in.
