An Attica, MI newborn photographer’s perspective
Welcoming one baby into the world is life-altering. Welcoming two at once is something else entirely.
When parents reach out to me about newborn photos and mention they’re expecting twins, there’s often a pause before the next sentence. Sometimes it’s followed by a nervous laugh. Sometimes by a careful question about pricing. And almost always by an unspoken worry: Is this going to cost more?
Here’s the honest answer.
I don’t charge extra for twins. And I never have.
Not because twin sessions are easier. They’re not. But because I believe memories shouldn’t be priced by the headcount.
Two babies. Two beginnings. One shared story.
Two babies. Two beginnings. One shared story.
Twin newborn sessions aren’t “extra”. They’re different.
Photographing twins does require more intention. More patience. More flexibility.
Two feeding schedules. Two tiny personalities. Two babies who may want completely different things at the same time.
That’s why I approach twin newborn sessions with pace, not pressure. I plan for longer sessions when possible, especially in the studio, where I can create a calm, controlled environment that allows babies and parents to settle in.
For twins, I prefer to block up to four hours, though I’ve absolutely worked with less when needed. Time gives us room to breathe. To pause. To adjust. And to create images that feel unhurried and thoughtful rather than rushed.
Twin sessions move at their own pace.
What “no extra charge” really means:
This part matters, so let’s be clear and transparent.
Not charging extra for twins doesn’t mean every session suddenly includes unlimited time or images. The package you choose is still honored, whether you’re welcoming one baby or two.
For example:
- If you choose a wrapped newborn mini, the image count will be more limited. With twins, that can mean fewer individual poses per baby.
- This is why I often recommend my mid-tier package or higher for twin newborn sessions. It allows more time, more flexibility, and room to include parents and siblings without feeling rushed.
What does stay the same is this:
- Twins receive the same number of images as singleton sessions within the selected package
- Parents and siblings are always included in mid-tier packages and above
- The care, intention, and experience are never scaled back
These moments matter just as much.
Why I’ve chosen this approach:
The truth is simple.
Parents of twins are already paying double for almost everything. Diapers. Car seats. Childcare. Life.
I don’t believe their memories should cost more too.
Every family deserves the same opportunity to document this fleeting season with care and respect. Twin parents shouldn’t feel penalized for something that is, frankly, miraculous.
And that’s the other part. I genuinely love witnessing the miracle of twins. The quiet moments between them. The way they settle when they’re close. The way parents look at them with equal parts awe and exhaustion.
It’s an honor to be trusted with that.
Every family deserves the same care.
Every family deserves the same care.
Studio or in-home sessions for twins?
I offer both studio newborn sessions in Attica, Michigan and in-home newborn sessions throughout Metro Detroit and Lapeer County.
Studio sessions tend to offer more control and consistency, especially helpful for twins. In-home sessions can be beautiful for families who prefer a more lifestyle-driven approach or want to stay close to home during those early weeks.
During a consult call, we’ll talk through what environment makes the most sense for your family and your babies.

About twin fees (and why you may see them elsewhere)
It’s common to see photographers charge an additional twin fee. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that. Every business structures pricing differently.
My pricing simply reflects my values.
Rather than adding a separate fee, I focus on:
- Helping families choose a package that realistically supports the session
- Building enough time into the experience
- Delivering a calm, premium experience that doesn’t feel transactional
Every family brings their own story.
Let’s talk before you decide!
