Capturing the First Moments of Your Baby's Life
Welcoming a new baby into the world is a life-changing experience, filled with moments that pass by in an instant. A Fresh 48 photography session ensures you never forget the earliest hours of your newborn’s life. If you’re an expecting parent in Michigan looking for a meaningful way to document your baby’s first days, this is the perfect opportunity.
What is a Fresh 48 Session?
A Fresh 48 session is a special newborn photography session that takes place within the first 48 hours after birth, typically in the hospital, birthing center, or at home. Unlike traditional newborn photography, which is often done weeks later in a studio setting, Fresh 48 sessions are raw, emotional, and entirely unposed. These sessions capture the earliest moments of your baby’s life—first yawns, tiny fingers, hospital bracelets, and those first heartwarming interactions with parents and siblings. These photos are meant to capture the raw love of you are your newest addition!
Fresh 48 vs. Traditional Newborn Photography: What's the Difference?
Many parents wonder whether they should choose a Fresh 48 session or wait for a traditional newborn photoshoot. The good news is that both serve different purposes, and many families opt for both! Here’s how they compare:
Timing: Fresh 48 photos are taken within the first two days after birth, while traditional newborn sessions typically happen when the baby is 5-14 days old.
Style: Fresh 48 images are documentary-style, focusing on natural, unposed moments. Traditional newborn photography often includes posed portraits with props, editing and controlled lighting.
Setting: Fresh 48 sessions take place in the hospital, birthing center, or home to preserve the authenticity of those first few hours. Traditional newborn sessions usually occur in a professional studio.
Booking Your Fresh 48 Session in Michigan
As a photographer based in Imlay City, Michigan, I offer Fresh 48 photography sessions within a two-hour radius. I travel to hospitals, birthing centers, and homes to document these once-in-a-lifetime moments. A small travel fee may apply depending on your location.
If you’re expecting and want to preserve the earliest memories of your baby’s life, I’d love to help. Booking a Fresh 48 session in advance is hard because babies come on their own time. I prefer to book on their due date, but if anything changes, we can switch the scheduled session to better suit them. It’s also helpful to designate someone (usually the partner or husband) to text me when you are on the way to the hospital and provide updates on your progress so I can move my schedule around as needed. Once your baby arrives, we'll coordinate promptly to schedule the session within the first 48 hours.
